Year 1 - Milo give it a go.
Clothing - Casual
Gear - None required all provided by the club
Year 2 - 4 Softball
Clothing - White top and white shorts/longs, suitable soft casual shoes
Gear - None required all provided by the club, some children provide there own bat.
Year 5 - 8 Hardball
Clothing - White top and white shorts/longs, suitable soft casual shoes or cricket boots. Correct underpants. Please understand a real cricket ball is used so reasonable protection of the toes should be considered especially Year 7 & 8. When considering cricket boots those with spriggs must be able to be removed when playing on artificial pitches.
Gear - Each child should have at least a protector (box) to protect the family jewels. If they don't there is at least one provided in the team gear. We recommend children provide their own. Make sure suitable underpants are worn (no boxers) to ensure holding the protector in place. If the child does not have suitable underwear and does not wear a box they will not be allowed to bat. A helmet is also required. Again the club supply helmets in the team gear. Some children prefer their own helmet. Children will not be allowed to bat without wearing a helmet.
Other required items, all provided in the team gear, are:-
* Pads
* Batting Gloves
* Thigh Pads
Left Handers - we try to cater for left handers in all teams. They do require special gloves and in the high end, pads and thigh pads.
Coloured clothing
As long as it is a team uniform, same coloured clothing is allowed, please speak to a committee member first before organising as we have club colours
Purchasing equipment
If you need to purchase equipment we recommend Kilbirnie Sports. They have very knonledgable people on cricket.
As a fund raising excerise team photos will be shot by the teams themselves. The Team from Out of the Box will then prepare the final product from information supplied using the following form Team Photos info.doc.
The funds gained from these will be used to pay for the end of year prize giving function. We encourage all teams to participate in this. By doing this ourselves we are not only providing a product at a reduced price for parents but about 70% of the funds go directly back to the club.
While the printing process is different, the options have increased and still of an excellent standard.
A sample of the final products can be viewed at ........................................................
We encourage that the team photo does not have to be a formal one. Or does it have to be just the children and coach. The purpose of the photo is to have everyone in it as it is a memory of a group of people enjoting Saturday morning together.
We strive to have each team sponsored by someone. Wellington Cricket encourges this and the benefits to the sponsor far outweighs the cost. Nearly all of any funds generated fron sponsorship will go to the club. The funds will then go to:-
- Any shortfall the club may find in operating costs
- Club days like the one we had at Wellington School of Cricket
- Any shortfall community support may not provide for junior cricket development costs of eastern suburbs junior members
- Help purchase any equipment we may want like a bowling machine in the future
There will be different levels of sponsorship.
